26 ft and up, nothing shorter
Box truck dispatch that keeps a 26-footer loaded, on your terms
A box truck is where a lot of drivers start their own business, often without a CDL. The hard part is the freight: partials, final-mile runs and expedited loads that pay well one day and vanish the next. Our box truck dispatch service finds them, negotiate them, and bring every one to you to confirm or pass.
We dispatch 26 ft box trucks only. No cargo vans, no sprinters, nothing shorter than 26 ft.
Start with your truck
26 ft box trucks and up. No cargo vans or sprinters.
"Box truck loads don't pay." Run the math before you decide.
Box truck rates are lower per load than a 53 ft trailer, but so are the costs: better fuel economy, a cheaper truck, often no CDL wage premium. Whether a week pays comes down to how many loads you string together and how much you run empty between them. That's the part a box truck dispatcher works on.
Put in your own week. The defaults are an EXAMPLE week, not a promise, and start at the new-MC rate because that's where most box truck carriers begin. Change the authority setting once your MC is 6 months old and watch the fee drop.

Non CDL box truck dispatch, and where the CDL line sits
The CDL question for a straight truck turns on weight rating, not length. A box truck at 26,000 lb GVWR or less usually needs no CDL if it carries no placarded hazmat and is not built for 16+ passengers. State rules can add requirements; check your state DMV.
Plenty of 26 ft box trucks are built to a GVWR of 25,999 or 26,000 lb for exactly this reason. Others, especially heavier-duty chassis, are rated over 26,000 lb and need a Class B. Enter your truck's rating to see which side you're on.
No CDL doesn't mean no paperwork
- For-hire across state lines: a USDOT number and MC operating authority from FMCSA.
- At least $750,000 in public liability coverage for general freight in vehicles of 10,001 lb GVWR or more, filed with FMCSA by your insurer (BMC-91 or BMC-91X).
- A current medical examiner's certificate from an examiner on FMCSA's National Registry, kept on file for each driver. This applies to interstate trucks over 10,000 lb, CDL or not.
- Drivers who do not need a CDL (for example non-CDL box trucks and non-CDL hotshots) are not subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing under Part 382.

The full rules are in our guide to what size truck requires a CDL.
Usually no CDL needed for this straight truck.
Straight trucks only, not built to carry 16 or more people. Towing a trailer over 10,000 lb with a combined rating of 26,001 lb or more is Class A. Your state can add rules, so check your state DMV.

What a box truck dispatcher looks for
A 26 ft box with a liftgate opens doors a box without one can't. As a straight truck dispatch service, we match loads to your truck's real specs: length, liftgate, pallet count, payload, and whether you have straps, blankets and a pallet jack on board.
Partial and LTL-style loads
A few pallets from one shipper, often combined with a second partial on the same route so the truck runs fuller.
Final mile and white glove
Furniture, appliances and retail deliveries to homes and stores. Liftgate and two-person crews often matter here.
Expedited and hot shot freight
Time-sensitive freight where a smaller truck that can leave now beats a tractor-trailer that can leave tomorrow.
Dedicated local routes
Repeat runs for a warehouse or distributor. Less variety, steadier weeks, and you're home more.
Trade show and event freight
Displays and equipment with fixed delivery windows, often with tight dock appointments.
Backhauls you plan for
The return trip is where box truck weeks are won or lost, so we look for it before you leave.

Box truck dispatcher questions
Comparing box truck dispatch companies, or looking for a 26ft box truck dispatcher who actually knows the freight? Ask each one the same thing: do I approve every load, and does the rate con come to me? Our answer to both is yes.
How much does box truck dispatch cost?
The same as every other truck we dispatch: 7% of gross while your MC is under 6 months, then 5%. Two or more trucks move to the 4% fleet rate (limited time). No setup fee, no minimum, and nothing in a week you don't haul. Box trucks don't pay extra and don't get a discount; the fee follows your authority, not your equipment.
Do I need a CDL to drive a 26 ft box truck?
Usually not. Most 26 ft box trucks are built with a GVWR of 26,000 lb or less, which stays under the CDL line, as long as you don't haul placarded hazmat. Some are rated higher and need a Class B. Check the GVWR on the label in the driver's door jamb, not the length, and check your state DMV for extra rules.
How much can a box truck owner make per week?
There's no honest single number. It depends on your lanes, how many loads you run, the mix of partials and final-mile work, your fuel and your truck payment. Use the calculator above with your own numbers and treat anyone who promises a weekly figure with suspicion, including dispatchers.
Can you dispatch a new MC box truck?
Yes. While your authority is under 6 months the fee is 7%, and we focus on brokers that load new carriers. A non-CDL box truck running for-hire across state lines still needs a USDOT number, operating authority, insurance filed with FMCSA and a medical card for the driver.
Will you force me to take loads?
No. Every load comes to you with the stops, weight, rate and times before it's booked. You confirm or pass. When you confirm, the broker sends the rate confirmation straight to you. Pass on as many as you like; there's no penalty.
Do you dispatch cargo vans or box trucks under 26 ft?
No. A 26 ft box truck is our floor, and we hold to it. We don't dispatch cargo vans, sprinters or any box truck shorter than 26 ft. The freight we book for box trucks is sized for a 26-footer, and we'd rather say so up front than take a fee on loads that don't pay.
